“Alicja Ziolko and Bennie Bartels present their tango-classes in a dynamic and playful way, with a lot of atmosphere, humor and some drama.
Both interact and dance with their students on an equal basis. Their teaching being as much about discovering as about learning.
Asking from both the leader and follower an active role in the dance and the class. It will later on benefit them majorly on the dancefloor in finding solutions and to improvise more freely.
Next to their 20 years of tango experience both as social dancers, teachers and performers, Alicja draws on her rich experience in acting and Bennie from his work as a contemporary dancer with a rich insight in grounded, souple and natural movement.
They both see the individual and his or her possibilities and helps them to explore this in a creative and imaginative way. They draw from a wide range of exercises, impro's, tasks and techniques to help you find this.”
*About Feldenkrais "What Feldenkrais brings is an understanding of the movement (tangodance) from hte inside out. Mostly we think in forms and steps, in right or wrong, something that will keep the dance always a bit alien as it is something we copy and not how you sense yourself. What you learn is that a "not doing" organizes your balance, grounding and contact in a natural and easy way as opposed to ever more information and effort. Every class works with a certain movement patten as walking, standing, turning, spiral, reaching... that I make you research within a setting so you start to understand it from your own and not because of what I (intelectually) tell you. The attention is on sensitivity, flow, the chain from the feet through your body and arms into the other person, internal orientation, direction and how this all can breath, so neccesary to dance full and whole" (Bennie)
